Inspired by the traditional Indian Festival of Colour (Holi festival), this festival has recently reached European shores, with the emphasis changed from a religious ceremony to an all-out day party.
The event took place at Fira de barcelona (which has also recently hosted the official Sonar Day Parties). Fitting perfectly with the trends of dance music in Barcelona, there was a great line up of electronic DJs including: Catz ‘N Dogz/Pig&Dan/Silicone Soul (Craig Morrison)/Javi Bora/Funk D’Void/Javier Orduña/Sanatruja
The sun was hot, the music was loud, and the people were colourful. On the hour, every hour, there would be a temporary break in the electronic music as the DJ would start a countdown to the next bout of paint war. This lasted from midday until the sun had long set.
Holi Barcelona was a very fun event to experience! I inhaled a lot of paint powder, drank some funky coloured beer, and photographed the Barcelona event (for Barcelona Connect magazine).
